CONTRACTORS SEE IT DIFFERENTLY
As a design and build screw piling specialist - we are acutely aware that the structural engineers have very different interests to the geotechnical engineers who are both crucial to us achieving a successful design. The Main Contractors are no different - with very different wants and needs.
With the unenviable position of being wedged right in the centre of clients, suppliers and subcontractors - we endeavour to communicate the things that affect Main Contractors, like:
QUALITY:
- Can you do the job according to the drawings and specifications to achieve the structural requirements?
PROGRAMME:
- Can you achieve the dates/durations you said you would?
- Any specific lead times like pipe delivery and manufacturing?
- What are the key risks that might blow this out?
PRICE:
- Will entry price = exit price? Why not?
- What are the likelihood and consequences of the risks you've tagged out of? And what have you done to mitigate these?
- What extras do I need to add to my price so that I'm not caught out between you and the client?
- What would lower the price?
It was great to get out and present to 3Group Limited and C3 Construction Limited about our subtrade, and how we can dovetail in with them to deliver better for their clients. If any other contractors are interested in some Continued Professional Development - hit the ‘get in touch’ button above.
Collaborating and Communicating.
When are screw piles the best methodology for the job?
